Invasive Fountains

Cenchrus setaceus

Fountain grass is an invasive species taking over arid areas throughout Hawaii. It displaces native vegetation and disrupts forest formation. The African native is an aggressive species classified as a noxious weed and one of Hawaii’s most invasive plants by the Division of Forestry and Wildlife.

Brazilian Pepper

Schinus terebinthifolia

After foraging in Punta Gorda with Green Deane, Brazilian pepper seems to pop up everywhere (as invasives do). The plan is to roast and grind the sweet and spicy berries, then sprinkle over popcorn.
