“The Bloody Bucket” sits behind the agave.
The man on the porch was suspicious, and asked if I was taking pictures of “a varmint.” I commented on the agave plant, and asked if I could get a shot of the sign. When he discovered I’m from Camden, he warmed up and gave me the condensed history of “just a lil’ neighborhood bar.”
He and the owner met in the Navy. The building was hauled in from Kingsland around 1975 and used to be the top floor of someone’s house. I mentioned that as a teenager, we always wondered what went on inside, and he said that it’s pretty low key until ten or eleven.
